A battery thermal management system typically uses a liquid cooling solution, such as a water-cooled plate, to dissipate heat generated by the battery. A water-cooled plate consists of a thin metal plate with channels or tubes embedded within it. The plate is in direct contact with the battery cells.

During operation, the heat generated by the battery cells is transferred to the water-cooled plate. Water, or a coolant fluid, flows through the channels or tubes of the plate, absorbing the heat from the plate's surface. As the water passes through the plate, it carries away the heat and transfers it to a heat exchanger or a radiator, where the heat is dissipated into the surrounding environment.
